Dang Dawgs!
The ones I like most I tend to get too attached. Rain is my middle son's dog, but since he has a girl friend, job, and goes to college, I get to hunt her.
In February, I bred her. She had always been the perfect picture of health. Ten days after breeding her, she developed a lump on her neck. It turns out the vet thinks it is an abscess caused by something she ran into her neck such as sawgrass. He puts her on antibiotics. Her neck and muzzle swell up terribly. After some success the swelling goes down except at the abscess. She is on the antibiotics until April 21st. She has puppies, and the vet says stop the antibiotics. Four days later she can not even pick her head up. Of course it is midnight on Sunday, so it is off to the emergency clinic. She is dehydrated and has a fever of 105.7. She goes back on antibiotics. The pups were still nursing and vet said it was o.k. Problem due to fever milk production stops and within hours, we lose 3 pups. I become 24 hour milk nurse. World's hardest job next to being a dad.
Finally, last week the vet says the last thing to do is surgery. Today the dang dawg is in surgery. My education tells me everything should be fine. After the last couple of months of bad luck, it is hard to shake off uncomfortable thoughts.
These dang dawgs!!!!!!!!!
