biggame dogs get bred alot of times also, because of their cold tracking ability ,and game catching ability way before their treestyle. their offspring can lean more to track than tree sometimes as a result.competition coonhunters try to breed for a dog that fits the rules to win the competition hunts. i get diffrent tree styles out of the same litter though.there are a few variables though like doug said alot of dogs will get back so they can watch the bear up there.coondogs are mostly run at night so it isnt like they can see a small bodied animal like a coon up the tree in the dark.most of it is breeding ,but some of it is learned.
