Training Question - Treeing

ok, I've got a female that will strike a coon, tree it and stay there treed till I get around 75-100 yards away. Then she will just stay under the tree but not bark.
I'm almost positive this is from having too many coons shot out to her but I need her to bark until I get there.
Any advice on getting her out of this?

I don't want to walk into a tree that she is not barking on?? And once you tie her back she shuts up anyway. Will not bark while you are there.

Or are you meaning go on in, tie her back, and walk away. Don't come back or shine the tree till she is barking?

Like rob said tie her back but I mean 15 yards or so shoot the coon out to the other dogs and don't let her have it even if you are not going to shoot it out tie her back she will get the message.

I'd like to fix it, Rob, that's why I'm asking for advice. She split trees and is alone most of the time. When I tie her back should I wait for her to bark before I shine or acknowledge her??

A lot of dogs go through this after kill season she will let you know she will go to raising a hissy fit but don't cave in let it go on for awhile when you notice her treeing and not shutting up before you get there then you got it fixed hope this helps.

Just had one go through exact same thing. Not sure how old your dog is but if she stays there without barking she will definitely stay when she is. Keep hunting her I'll bet she will fix herself. U might try tieing her up at that tree if u got another dog that splits up go to it then come back to her. She will probably start barking again.

tie her back and roll the coon and don't let her touch it. you don't have to have any other dog there, in fact it works best without other dogs there... just don't let her have it. get her worked up wanting to get it and then drag her back to the truck. it may take a bunch for some dogs but it does work, even with hide dogs that shut up when you shine the tree.

Yup. Alone or with dogs this is the solution. I've seen a fella use an ecollar as well but wouldn't suggest that unless you are an expert with the e collar, and since you asked this question on here you are probably not one!lol one thing to remember in the future.... she probably didn't just all the sudden stop treeing! Something caused it and you could and should have seen it commin.

I don't know how anyone is supposed to "see it coming" if they don't know what to look for in the first place...I mean, I really think if the guy knew what caused it, I doubt he would have stood by until it got this far.
Let me ask this, what happens if you go in to the tree and hiss the dog on like to try and get her to tree??? Will she tree at all if you do this???
I agree that tying her back is in order. I would tie the dog back as suggested about 15 feet and shoot the coon out to other dogs also as suggested. Let her have to watch as the others have all the fun. I would also say that after a few times of this try going to the tree but stopping and walking back a ways when she stops. You want to try and get her to understand that continued treeing gets you there {and her the coon} but shutting up stops you too.

I'm no expert, but I have experienced the same thing before. What i did, as I was walking in to the tree and when she stopped barking, I turned my light off and stood there and waited until she started barking. I turned on my light and started to her. Every time she quit barking, I stopped walking. I did this until I got all the way to the tree. Only difference is, mine would bark while I was at the tree. I always tie mine at the tree. I don't know if this will fix your dog and don't remember how long it took, but it fixed mine.

Good luck.

X2... hunt her alone. Wait on her....just sit down in dark and wait. If she not done this her whole life she'll come out of it. Had plenty do this at one stage or another. .I doubt to many coon caused this. To me not enuff. Something caused it.

All good advice. If nothing else works try warming her up with a green hickory switch.Tie her close to the tree and talk to her in a soft voice of encouragement while using the switch on her side .not a beating just give her a little sting till you get desired results. this method is intended to stimulate excitement not punish.good luck.

She will not be put in a hunt until she is ready! But must have just been a phase. She seemed to fix herself. Treed 2 alone the other night and barked till I got there and then some!
