As soon as they are able to get around at night.

Turn them loose with a dog that can tree a coon, expose them to coon, make sure everything is fun. When they start to know what a coon track is, and start treeing, hunt them alone till you know what you have.

The training starts as soon as there weened of the mother and that up until 5/6 months old for MOST IMO is a critical time and the more time you put in them at that age the easier and more pleasurable it will be to hunt them starting alone at a young age !!, let them be pups let the. Run as much as possible during the day working on commands letting them get use to woods ,water etc,, and build a bond with them as to where they trust in yours the alpha of the pack!!!571-233-5819. Dogs learn by repetition !!! Good luck and it does the a lot of time to make a top well rounded hound!!, most there good traits that they need they are born with they are not trainable for the most part!,, good luck

Mine run loose when I'm outside from weaning till about 3-4 mo then full time till they are running and treeing on their own . During this time they learn to come when called , cross fences and water to lead ect . When they get to running and treeing here in the timber at the house they are ready to take hunting usually around 6-7 months .
