The reason the Reunion was moved from Sedalia MO for 2016. In late October local clubs were having there Field Trial Permits pulled for the month of November. The MDC requires all clubs to have a permit for our coon hunts which covers out of state hunters. May of 2015 a new rule was passed by the MDC that no field trial permits would be issued 5 days prior or during any Firearm deer season and 5 days prior and during Spring Turkey Season. Several clubs contacted MDC all getting different answers from local Game Wardens which have to approve our permits. I called Mr Jim Combs of BBCHA and explained to him what was going on and that we had meeting with MDC Nov.10 to discuss this issue. MDC says they would look into it and decide on it in May of 2016. I called Mr Jim Combs back and said we cant get a permit during Spring turkey season. My county Game Warden says he will not issue a permit.The Game warden contacted me a couple weeks later and said we could get a permit but had to have one permit for each cast of dogs hunting. Permits cost $25 each so there is no way this could be done.

In the mean time many clubs in Mo are scrambling to get hunt dates changed from turkey season and Deer season. We were still working on changes with MDC and got another Meeting with the Chief Deputy director of MDC on Dec. 21 2015. Myself Tom Wilbers of the Missouri Coon Hunters Federation, Mike Allen from Missouri Tree Dog Assoc. went to this meeting and had the rule changed on permits during Spring Turkey Season but Firearms Deer Season still will not be allowed field Trial Permits.

That being said Mr Jim Combs and Mr Darrin Batterson looked for a new location for the 2016 Reunion. A memo was sent to all County Game Wardens to allow permits during Spring Turkey Season. By the time this was cleared up a new location had already been chosen and to late to move back to Sedalia Mo.

This issue has caused alot of headaches with Missouri hunts this year and the State Fair Coonhunters assoc lost a $150 deposit on fair grounds for this hunt. Anymore questions feel free to ask .

I hope this event will be able to be held in Sedalia soon....maybe next year. I like the area and was really looking forward to making the trip.

Those coon hunters in MO worked hard to get this fixed. It wasn't their fault and they tried hard.

I want to express my thanks and gratitude for trying so hard and for keeping everyone informed.

I hope the DNR there gets this fixed cause it affects a lot of hunts.
