Ive herd of some guys putting up big tall poles and putting a red bright light that blinks real fast on the top of them guess it helps keep hawks and owls away at night also i would put mouse or rat traps on every post around the pen its for sure an owl or hawk killing them

If you find just a hand full of fur with no bones, feet, guts or other body parts it may be where two buck rabbits got in a scrap. Breeding season brings on some fighting over females.
