Ok guys. I've got a young male dog that I bought about a month ago that I was hoping to start pushing in the hunts. This dog came from Missouri. He's a good looking hound with a decent mouth, not over powering but you can hear him. I took this dog alone and he only went out about 100 yds the first night, I thought it might've been because it was a strange person hunting him or something, since the guy I bought him from owned him his whole life. I just don't think the dog has ever been hunted alone. Now you cut another dog loose with him and this little hounds turns into a totally different dog. He loves competition, he's not depending on another dog to tree a coon, as I've seen him split and hold pressure, he splits off from other dogs while out hunting. It's like he just wants competition to be out there with him. I'm not able to hunt in the hunts like I'd hoped, or he wouldn't be for sale, cause in the right hands this dog will win. Maybe if he's pushed real hard alone he will start throwing dirt in your face when you unsnap him alone. He has gotten better about going out further and further each time. I've seen him tree a coon by himself with no other dogs in the woods, and I've seen him split and hold pressure with other dogs. His sire is "Pay Dirt" and his mom is a grnt female off of "Cold Sweat" He's paid up in everything. This is honest as I can be about the dog.
