Our gasoline prices here in Minnesota have gone up from a low $1.37 to $1.84 in the last 20 days.

It's about slowing down the natural gas industry.

Keystone pipeline! When they blocked the pipeline prices went up to almost $4. When it looked like the pipeline was back in play prices came down. The pipeline bill didn't go thru, prices started back up. Last year when the campaign s got under way and put the pipeline back on the table with all the rep candidate s in favor of it, the prices went way down. Gas made it to $1.37. It will fluctuate, but it will not go over $2.10 until after the election, then it may go way up (depending on who gets elected). Hillary was for the pipeline, then she was against it, now she don't know. She said she will decide after the election.

The reason is OPEC did not cut production which created a surplus, the reason OPEC did not cut production is to keep prices low to run Russia and US out of the market, Russia had been selling a lot of oil to fund the bombing in Syria, the US was experiencing an oil boom through fracking. OPEC can get the oil out of the ground a lot cheaper than we can, they were still making profit at the lower prices. We have lost Several hundred oil jobs in the past year.

Reason for edit: Spelling , auto correct.

It's simple supply and demand. For the first time in decades, U.S. is once again a major player in oil production. No thanks to the Feds, no drilling I'm aware of on Federal land. Add to that global decline in demand due mostly to a big slowdown in economic growth.

So there's a glut of oil on the market. OPEC used to set the prices, now all they can do is vote NOT to cut production hoping to drive out a lot of companies in the U.S. They are slowly succeeding, we will have to see how it ends up.

Mr Scott is absolutely right as usual. OPEC controls/sets the price of crude oil and therefore gasoline. We are at their mercy. Maybe The Donald can do something about that when he gets elected. He has some connections in the Mideast and knows how to "deal" with them.

Scott Morris, you are correct. You make it hard to stir the pot when you follow up with facts. Good post.
