Best puppy wormer?

I have always used Strongit for puppies starting at 2 weeks but it is always a hassle because i have to go to the vet to purchase. What are some other options that you all use? I would appreciate any info or opinions you all might have. Thanks.

Nemex 2 (pyrantel pamoate) isn't doing it for me here anymore. I've gone to Safeguard (fenbendazole).

Sure ain't no expert on this but my last litter I changed it up a little with good results.

I have always started them out on strongid T which is about the same as nemex 2. I like it because it is safe.

Last litter of pups it just didn't seem like it was doing what I have seen in the past and got some safeguard.

The strongid T you just did once and the safeguard you do once a day for three days.

I rotated every couple weeks between the two wormers and probably will keep that method up on future litters.

I think Safeguard will also get a few different worms the stringed t won't.

I think anything you use you should investigate and make up your own mind.

I've had great results with Nemex II... You wont get rid of the worms until you get them off their Mom.

It's good to alternate wormers. Use Strongid-T (Pyrantel) one time and follow up with Safeguard/Panacur (Fenbendazole) on the next deworming. Deworm pups every 2 weeks until they are 16 weeks old, then get them on a monthly deworming program. Interceptor Plus is my favorite monthly dewormer and it can be used in 6 week old pups.

It's really important to deworm your bitches aggressively, especially prior to breeding. Monthly deworming with Interceptor Plus or Heartgard Plus has proven to significantly reduce parasites in the pups.

Pyran 50

get on your computer and type in Pyran 50
it will bring up several sources for the same thing as Strongid T you can get enough to last a while and save $$

Safeguard for Goats. (liquid) Best I've ever used. Kills everything but tape and heart worms. Read up on it a lot has been written. Awhile back a post on another site gave a dosage chart for pups according to weight. If you have trouble finding it let me know ill try and post a copy we have on hand.
Give it to the Dam also every two weeks along with the pups. Keeps them clean and healthy.

What is the correct cc/ml per pound you give them using the safeguard?

that sounds like a high does to give three days in a row to a 5 lb pup 6 week old pup ..
i have never broke down safeguard because i never use it much at all and if the goat wormer and the horse wormer dose rates are anywhere close it sounds high ..

I Talked to a vet about this she said that would be fine 1cc/ml per #, that is on grown hounds I never ask about pups.

The dosage is what we give our beagle pups. Awhile back a vet posted the dosage on a board. Just copied the chart I printed from the post. It's works fine for us.

Someone needs to start a post regarding home remedies that just about all houndsmen can contribute too. Maybe start a sticky at the top of this forums. Beagle board had one a few years back.
