Ol Zack passed away last night in his sleep. He turned 12 in November. He had been spending his time at my little hunting buddy's place and was using him to train some young ones. Caleb said that he was getting pretty slow, but when he came treed, he could load the gun. His claim to fame was that he is the sire of Triple Gr Ch Pruitt's Salt River Katie. He was probably the most accurate dog I ever followed.

About three years ago, I heard about a young Mennonite boy that was to get pup and start coon hunting. I knew that would be a train wreck. I loaded Zack, a coon light, and a pair of used waders and headed over to Caleb's. I had a talk with him and felt be was sincere. I told him that he needed to learn and Zack would teach him. All I told him was that if I heard of him leading a dog to a tree, I would take him back, no second chance. On to today, Caleb's younger brother told me that he was going to.miss him, as Zack sure taught them a lot a out coon hunting.

Sorry if I was trying to "overcharge" you Tim. Bet you've paid more for other hounds who never won a cast. I don't remember what that amount was but I've not lost any sleep over it and bet you'd pay more for the same kind again.
