Female short cycling

My leopard hound has just come into heat for the third time since April. I have not tried to breed her on any of her cycles. She swells up huge and hard, bleeds, softens and is done in about three weeks. She was in season in September And is back in now again. What could be wrong? Is there anyway to stop this other then being spayed?

Is she in close quarters with any male dogs?

My females will go in if I put them in a lot with any males.

No, she is the only dog I have. No male dogs in the area, nor many females.

Go get her thyroid checked. Mine did the same thing, she would either come in several times in a row or not come in for a year. Tried breeding her and she was in heat but would not drop eggs. Best gyp I have ever owned and I had her spayed without ever breeding her. My vet told me we could get her cycle straitened out and breed her with meds but a thyroid is genetic and I didn't want to pass it on.

How old is she ? if she is young i have seen a few come in 3 times a year and most of the time once they are bred they will cycle on a regular cycle, most of the time if there is a problem the heat cycle want go full term it may just be a week or shorter, both my females come in once a year one is 8 and the other one is 5 years old and for some reason both came in twice this year and i chalk it up to the weird weather pattern we have had you no some times it will cause animals to get off course.

She was 2 yrs old in August. Came in the first time on her 1 yr birthday, then again in April, Then in September and now December. Guess it is vet time after she goes out. I've had a dog split cycle, but nothing like this. I had hoped to get one litter from her because she is so nice. Maybe she just gonna be a big ole hound dog baby after all.
