Fun with pups tonight

With work and schedules haven't had much chance to work pups. Today
everyone's schedule was together and we did a few drags with the pups
We have a coontail we use for that. Laid a track and let them loose!
My daughter had put a hook turn into it and both pups missed the turn but
realized it immediately. Merlyn, the english, cast about them went back to
the place he had lost the trail. It was cool to watch the wheels turning.
Meanwhile, my blue tick , Pippin, was just below Merlyn and casting about. The breeze changed direction. Ole Pippin's head came up and you could just see he had caught the scent. For one split second he was still then he raced following that scent right to the tree. Right on Pippin's heels came Merlyn. Merlyn will be a chop till he drops tree dog! Pippin trees a bit until he. discovered my daughter had left a bit of the drag line dangling. That pup grabbed that line and would have had that tail of we'd been any slower. This was their first drag. I was very proud of them.

It is fun to work pups and watch them figure out how to work a track and then take them out and watch them track and tree their first wild coon it does not get much better than that, good luck with your pups.
