Saw something last night. Never would've thought

Did two turn outs last night and dog never even struck. So was chalking it up to bad night. We were on the way out to head home when a coon ran out in the road about fifty yards ahead of the truck. I sped up to verify it was a coon when it turned and started running away from the truck down the middle of the road. I got up to 20mph trying to catch this coon. It finally turned off the road. So I stopped and put a pretty solid 2 year old right behind. She let out there like she was running a deer. I told my buddy she should put it up pretty quick but was I wrong. She ran across two mountain tops full out and ended up putting it in the river at 1.2 miles from the truck. I've always heard coin won't run that far but now I'm not sure. Lol.

If they feel the pressure they will make a dead run and try and get back home most times and a older coon will give it their all,i would say that one never liked the truck chasing him then the dog.

They don't like to take the time to stop and climb if the dog is too close. I think they are afraid the will get caught, so they just run. We ran one hard for over an hour one night. I know it was a coon because it passed us three times with the dogs 30 yards behind it.
