Hardwood Elvis Attack Nov 5 2000- Oct 17 2015
I write this with a heavy heart full of memories,,,, Elvis passed away in my arms Saturday. I write this to let you know of the amazing journey created by our bond. He started out in the house,,,, "having a big time" ,,, as most of you have seen on the Tree My Dog DVD. The fun we had together ,, him doing his tricks and all ,,,,,,, was something I had never experienced with one of God's creatures. Elvis taught me more than I taught him. He opened my eyes and my heart in ways I could not have imagined. The journey Elvis lead me on was not one I could have planned. I believe it was planned for me. I have gotten to go places,, seen things ,, met so many great coonhunters that otherwise I would not have. The journey with Elvis changed the course of the wife and our lives. My wife, Lynne, bought Elvis from Chad Beard in SC as a Christmas gift for me. At one time when he was young I had a possible chance to sell him for "big money",,,,, my wife was driving a rusted out Bronco , cracked windshield, that had daylight through the floorboard. I told here we would use the money and get her a good vehicle. She got a little upset with me and said "NO,,,, YOU ARE NOT SELLING ELVIS". She loved him as much as I did. I never planned to make two top selling dvds,"TREE MY PUP , TREE MY DOG ". I never planned or thought I would be selling CoonPotion, DeerPotion, BearPotion, Treeing Walker Playing Cards. I was a pumpkin farmer. I never planned for Elvis to be on KY AFIELD twice with Tim Farmer. I now believe Elvis was a gift from above. The journey with Elvis and where he lead me is unbelievable,,, really,,, I am amazed still,, with it all. Elvis's and our journey ended just as amazing. Elvis went down a week ago at his kennel and we brought him back to the house ,,, where he was raised ,,, we had a good week together, he and I. I got back from deer hunting Sat at 1:30 and walked in the house and yelled ,,," Hey ELVIS",, he raised his head and acknowledged me. I stood him up and petted him and massaged him for a few minutes,,,, then laid him back down. He looked at me and raised his head slightly. I went to the bathroom to clean up.......... when I came out he was passing away,,,,, I went to him and made eye contact one last lime. It was quick and peaceful ,, with the wife and I both there.,,,, right where he first started chasing a coon tail in our living room. So the journey with Elvis has come full circle ,,, he is buried at the top of the hill here on Hillbilly Hill ,,, facing the woods ,,,, totally released,,,, running and treeing ,, going after those ghost coons,,,,, one night we WILL hunt together again..................... then the journey will begin again.
