Nice warm hunt
Rollin' with Rampage again tonight. I got out right after dark and I think that may have been a mistake. He made a big round over half of the property and didn't hit a thing. The landowner and his cousin checked by and we talked a while when he was out. They were interested in how the Alpha worked and I was showing where he had been and where he was etc. He got close to a road and I toned him they were amazed that he knew to come exactly where we were.
They left and we moved on. Rampage doubled back on a little of the area he had already covered then moved over to the other half of the property. While he was in the part he had already been on I moved and when I checked where he was he had gotten about 850 yds out. I moved in closer to him and he had worked back within 150 yds of me when he lined out parallel to me . I knew he had hit a track then and sho' 'nuff a little over 600 yds later he put him up in a pretty large red oak.
I looked that thing over forever and couldn't see squat. I was about to give up when I decided to give it the last ditch effort and broke out the red light and the squaller. He was laying in a big fork and would only peek over at me. I marked his spot and made things hot enough for him with the rifle he had to move and give me a good shot.
