Alpha Troubles

While hunting Saturday my Garmin Alpha 100 did some crazy stuff,1)the dog tracks would just disappear , start over , then disappear.2) while tracking a dog a blue pin with a pink line showed up ( I have seen this before when you go to the dog info page & highlight the dog & push go ) I did not do this & the pin / pink line would not go away. I removed all of my dogs off the list & deleted all my tracks.

I did not want to do this because I had all my roads on my garmin that we hunt so I know where my dogs are, is there anyway to delete the dog tracks & not the roads?

I just updated my alpha because I saw a update came out OCT 15 2015.

I also had a GPS Dawgs tablet hooked up when this happened dont know if that had something to do with it.

John from Conkeys tried to help me while I was out in the field but we could not get the issue resolved then.
Thanks for your help John.

I'm guessing your memory is is full so clear your track log. That's what happens to me when it's full. The pin and line is something to do navigation. See if you can 'stop navigating' or hit the 'x' to exit out of the pin. Just some suggestions I'm sure Conkeys told you the same, they'd know better than me.

.

John discussed this with me this weekend and I think we are lost with this one. Yes the pink line is Navigation and you are aware of that which is great and you said you didn't start navigation so that is confusing.

Here are a couple thoughts and I am just thinking out loud here. You said the system was set up to your Tablet. I suspect something there. I assume the problems were both on the ALPHA screen and the tablet screen.

First two thoughts for concern and then a suggestion.

You realize when the GPS is hooked up to the tablet that the ALPHA draws power from the tablet battery. I assume the charger you have for the tablet is big enough to keep both charged. I had an issue with this in the past before I got that bug worked out. I would make sure the tablet and alpha battery wasn't low. Second thing is the connection between the tablet and the ALPHA. I would suggest you get a ALPHA and keep it only hooked to the tablet. The connection in the back of the alpha in my opinion isn't designed for a lot of use.

Here is a suggestion that you may have already figured out.
The tablet is difficult for me to scroll using my fingers. Especially if your hunting and your hands are dirty or sweating. I use a bluetooth mouse and it very easy to use and the small navigation box on the left is easy to use with it also. Just move the roller and the map zooms in and out and scroll left or right is very simple.

My tablet & Alpha are ran off a converter so they are at full charge all the time .

I use a stylus designed for the tablet. The mouse is also a good option.

The blue pin was still on the screen even after I Stopped navigation , this was when the Alpha was not connected to the tablet,so I just deleted all my dogs & deleted all my tracks.I wish I could save the roads & just delete the dog tracks.Oh well thanks for all you & your staff do for the hound world Bruce you guys & gals are A-1.

The blue pin is a different story. Once you get it turning off the alpha is they only way to clear it. Yes you have went high tech.

Mountain Man My eyes are getting to bad to see that screen so I had to get a T.V. so I could drive & try to cut these speed deamons off.

call me I need to talk to you, My 9 year old son wants to hunt the youth series & I'm trying to find him a old COONDOG that is sitting in someones pen.

Bruce I have no clue why the blue pin stayed there , I will find out this saturday when I hunt again if that cleared things up.
