I have a hound that did some damage as a 1yr old falling over a fence at full speed. He is 6 now and after a hard nite of hunting is was lame. I started giving him liquid glucosamine for people by Wellness they sell at walmart. After a week on it my dog hasen't been lame since. I also rub his legs do with horse liniment after he hunts. It reduces swelling, helps blood flow to area and reduces soreness. I have used a brace before when my dog had a bad cut around his ankle. I found that a human elbow brace worked perfect for the ankle/foot area. I wrapped it with horse leg wrap to keep it from getting hung up and lost. Good luck.
