long race last night !!!!

My 9 month old struck a track and started pushing it hard then was joined by my buddy's 14 month old...they ran it like they was looking at it, at 1.3 miles they located and started hammering...it took 20 minutes to drive around and get 400 yards from them..when we got to them they where treed on a big red oak with a big sow coon in the top...that race was something to hear because they normally want hunt together. .

Going 1.3 miles in this country can happen as we are in short timber. However, I must say that if my dogs have a coon jumped, 1.3 miles is an awful long way for a coon to stay in front of a dog. If the underbrush is really thick, this is to the benefit of the critter being pursued.
Adios,
Gary

Greg,
I see that you are from Texas, what part? I have found the coons can really run in Southwest and West Texas. In this part of the world, there are simply a few coons that will not tree but will go to the ground if really pressed.
Adios,
Gary
