I rarely have a litter of pups as I try to stock only myself and a few hunting buddies in Texas, New Mexico and Montana. After hunting lions much of last winter, I realized that I needed to increase my pack size so I just bred two gyps that should whelp in late July.
The offspring will be heavy Smokey River JBS Chief, Clear River Diamond Jim and Upson's Blue Boy II.
They should be intelligent, cold nosed dogs with excellent speed, drive and confirmation. I hunt these hounds on coons, bobcat and lion. Out of two litters, I am sure I will have a couple for sale.

The second gyp was bred to my Jack dog yesterday. She is Granddaughter of Clear River Diamond Jim and Jet 8, most of the remaining blood is Smokey River Chief. She is at Silver, TX with my good friend, Eddie Moore.

Hunted Jill, Luke and Pearl this morning and caught two coons between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. Trailed another a long way but just never got him going. Jill really did a great job, I sure am going to miss her when she has the puppies.

Jill put me in the dog business yesterday. 11 puppies, not sure of the sex count but will find out this evening. Lacey is due in about two weeks and between the two, we should be able to satisfy most of the demand for puppies out of these potlickers.

All of Jill's pups are spoken for. Two going to British Columbia, two to AZ, two to NM, two to Montana and I wanted to keep three. Since two are runts, I am hoping that Lacey comes with at least 8 healthy ones as I have a lot of folks here in TX and a gentleman from Mexico wanting one.
PM me your email and I will scan and shoot a copy of Jack's and Lacey's pedigree to you. Jill is my best hound but Jack is a good one, full brother to Jill, just a year younger.
While I hunt these dogs on coons to train them and keep them in shape, I hunt them on lion quite a bit in AZ, NM and Big Bend region of TX. They are cold nosed, intelligent and extremely athletic. I am not a competition hunter.

In all honesty, just these pups. All of my dogs go back to Cl. River Diamond Jim who was a good coondog but his offspring seem to prefer cats. I think the Upson Blue Boy II dog gives the dogs confirmation and intelligence.
All of these dogs will cold trail on a lion, coon or bobcat but once they jump, run with their head in the air like a foxhound. These dogs do not run to tree, they genuinely run to catch game on the ground.
There are a few grade dogs that I know of that are bred for bobcats. They have at least one half running walker in them but are not trailing dogs.

Appears that Jill is going to raise 5 males and 4 females as they will turn three weeks of age on Sunday. Lacey had 9 puppies yesterday but I am not sure of sexes. I pray that she will raise at least 8 so that we can restock our kennels and some of our hunting buddies across the country.
Lacey was bred to my Jack dog and she is an outside dog that I purchased from Robert and Melanie Hittson. The only reason that I was able buy her is that she open ticked and as most of you know, I don't breed for color. Robert has bred and raised blueticks for over 40 years and has at least 30 mature dogs in his kennels at all times. He said that the Lacey gyp was the most athletic bluetick that he had EVER seen. She hunts like a big running English Pointer but is really bad about climbing trees and that is why she is at Eddie Moore's ranch. He lives where the trees are short, reducing the chance of crippling her when she falls or jumps out.
Lacey sire is out of Jet 8 and bitch by Southshore Dr. Blue R.J. and Snyder Tully Rockyhill Cricket.
Her mother was out of Clear River Diamond Jim and Twin Springs Bullets Blue Nikki.

Got to say I am envious of houndsmen that live where they can use their hounds on a variety of game. Lions are blast. Been too many years since I chased them.

If Lacey can raise her 9, I am sure that we will have 5 or 6 for sale. Both litters are out of gyps so first litters and I am not sure which cross will be better. Jill is a full sister to Jack that was bred to Lacey.
Jill was bred to my Luke dog that came from Larry Anderson in Montana, heavy Upon's Blue Boy II and a shot of Clear River Diamond Jim.

I loaded Jack and headed to my partner, Eddie Moore's on Sunday. He wanted to borrow Jack to help get the heavy Runnin Bullet bred female I found in South Texas on coons.
While there, I had the opportunity to see Lacey's nine puppies that are out of Jack. Jack is a medium colored hound and Lacey is very light colored. So I felt that most pups would be medium in color and three or four are. The balance are open ticked as I am seeing a lot of pink skin under the white hair. Several guys who have hunted with me have accused me of sneaking a running walker into my bloodlines to get the speed on them but I can assure you that is not the case.

All of these babies are gone or committed. Of the 18, 14 were committed before they were born and now they are gone. Thanks so much for the hunters from Montana, UT, NM, AZ, GA and TX for taking these pups. I pray that they will do a great job for you as I know they will.
