GPS DAWG laptop/tablet Garmin Tracking

Does anybody know if this system will "Scroll" the map when moving?

I Hooked up my Alpha to my laptop and using "Basestation" was able to track the dogs and myself.

Problem is, as we drove down the road, the map screen stays stationary (it doesn't scroll or move like perhaps a Garmin Nuvi will).

I was communicating with the GPS Dawg people and they said that it was possible to have a scrolling screen BUT...thy stopped responding and I didn't get the rest of the story.

Maybe one of your gps gurus (BRUCE CONKEY) can give some insight

.

Your exactly right. The screen stays stationary. What I did to overcome that is I hooked up a blutooth mouse and it makes it easier to click and move screen and the roller ball lets you zoom in and out real fast Also your direction of travel does not rotate but with some practice and the mouse it is easy rotate the compass in the upper left corner and keep the screen pointing where your going.

A computer guru like Cody could possibly get you a scrolling screen but I don't have a clue about that. If I need a travel navigation I use an iPad in the same mount as the tablet and it works better than any navigation system I have seen.

For dog running I really don't see why you need an auto scrolling screen.
If I have to move fast I just touch the roller ball zoom out the screen to keep things on there then when I stop click on my position and drag to the center while moving the roller ball to zoom in

I have been saying roller ball but it's actually a small wheel lol

Bruce,

#1, I wanted to use my laptop as a "GPS" by plugging my Alpha into it. BIGGER SCREEN

Wouldn't it be great if Basecamp would serve as a GPS ? Instead of squinting at small screen (especially with all the waypoints I have stored), I would have a large laptop screen. Currently, I use a 5" Nuvi which works ok but, with all my waypoints (and other small map details) I utilize, a "Scrolling" map on a large screen would be cool

Auto-Moving Map with GPS Dawg

Yes, the GPS Dawg folks can get the map to "scroll" (move) around automatically as you ride along.

Thanks,
