The cross between Smokey River Spud, and Be's Blue Jean wasn't bad. There were two other dogs from this same litter that were killed much too early. There was another male (besides Tramp) who was a big dog, with a big mouth, and he started real quick and was well on his way to becoming a top hound...until he was killed on the highway while hunting.
There was another female, Smokey River Jean's Blue Jane, who met an untimely death on the highway. I traded her to Warren Haslouer for J-Bell, the mother of Chief, with the intention of breeding J-Bell to Tramp. (Which never happened b/c of an infection in J-Bell, which eventually killed her). Jane would, no doubt, have made Gr.Nt. because she would get alone, with a coon.
This cross was made by a guy, Leon Handy, who was influenced by the same man that played a huge roll in my choice of hounds, Mr. Frank Hall (deceased) from Stuart, Va. To my knowledge, Leon no longer hunts or breeds dogs. He only made a few crosses, but made history with the ones he did.
