Barking in box during Ukc hunt
Well fellas had a first-time happen for me last night. I was judging a cast and on the first drop a dog got scratched for not hunting 15 consecutive scorecard minutes . After that the entire rest of the hunt , The handler of the dog left his dog in the box and the dog barked continuously non-stop.
The dog barking was making it very difficult for the handlers of the other dogs to focus on calling their dogs . I asked the handler to make the dog be quiet. I recommended that he put a shocking collar on his dog, and he replied I don't believe in shocking dogs. I then said if that's the case then you need to take the dog back to the clubhouse or either stay with the dog at the truck and make him be quiet. He said there was nothing in the rulebook that would force him to do any of those three things , and said we were going to have to put up with it.
I said regardless of what the rules say there is such a thing as respect and to honor the other handlers, that were still trying to compete.
We spent the rest of the nite listening to that crazy dog bark his head off and nobody so much as said hush to him.
Very aggravating and very unsportsmanlike, and very frustrating for me as a judge because I couldn't scratch him for unsportsmanlike conduct because he had already been scratched for a different offense.
Any you guys ever had that happen ?
