Everyone Please Read

Everyone please listen to my warning...As I always do, I plugged my coon light in before I went to bed. It was on the charger for just over 2 hours when it caught my house on fire. Im sure many other people do the exact same thing I do. Luckily my dad and I were able to put the fire out before it spread through the house and everyone was safe. I wanted to post this to hopefully save someone from what we are going through. Do not put your light, collars, anything on the charger and leave the house or go to bed. The big guy up above definitely took care of us tonight!

What kind of light was it? My old wick box light melted 2 chargers. Never caught fire but they sure melted. The charger I have for it now gets hot but works. Glad to hear you got the fire put out and no one was hurt.

I dont want to say the brand of light for the companies sake. I dont want it to come out and ruin their business. They are aware of what took place. I got in contact with them this morning. It is a freak thing that happened. I lost all of my archery equipment...bows, targets, you name it, I lost it. Main thing is the family is safe, the house is saved, and everything can be purchased again!

Might not be a freak thing. I know of 2 others that did the same thing. I will check and see which light they were. I think I know but not sure.

Remember that gal that use to be on here that went by the name Cheryl'? She pert near brought down a 747 flying with her coonlight and charger. But I think that had to do with her leaving the spotlight on.

I just never expected it would happen. It was off sitting in the open on top of my desk that I tie flies charging with nothing around it. It must have had a short or just got hot.

A smart charger has a small green/red light on it. When the head light is charging, the little light on the charger is red. When the head light is fully charged the little light on the charger turns green and the charger is supposed to automatically switch over to trickle charge so that it doesn't overheat. It sounds like your charger wasn't very "smart".

If it used lithium batteries, they don't use a smart charger and they do not trickle charge. Most of the newer lights use them. The "smart" part is in the battery pack. Any battery that doesn't have some sort of protection on it weather it is a lithium with a protection circuit or some other kind with a smartcharger is dangerous. Let me rephrase that they can be dangerous if something goes wrong.
