which is better the t5 collars or the dc 50's?

They're both very good. One doesn't really work ant better than the other. The t-5 was made to link up to either the astro320 or the alpha100 (and doesn't tone or shock so can be used in the hunts with an alpha) while the dc-50 only works with the astro320 so you could say the t-5 is better because it's compatible with both units but other than that there's no difference in how they perform.

ok thanks. if it came down to it would you be able to track both of them with the 320?

Yes you could have any combination from dc-30 to t-5 linked up on your 320 at the same time.
