Question: Why is the US Army's Blue jackets always darker than their pants? You see this in the movies and the Army Dress Blue Uniforms. Watch a movie about civil war to see what I am talking about. This is not a joke....

Isn't it something to do with fading? I am down the street from an Army Base (Redstone) and remember a fellow telling me the story years ago.........unfortunately, that is the only part of the story I remember.

Try this one , jackets were rolled up and stored in the saddlebag . Trousers would fade in bright sunlight. I had to turn in to supply some of my fatigues were faded below standards . Mike all I had was khakis and dress greens,blues came into being after I was out .

DING DING WINNER!!!! During Indian Wars in the Southwest during the day when it got hot soldiers would get hot and place their heavy jackets in their saddlebags... Wind, Rain and Sun would fade pants....

Pants were washed more often than jackets, therefore faded more quickly.
