hoarse dog???

My paw in law let a guy hunt his dog for a while a while back and the guy brought her back when she was coming into heat. She was loud when she left and was very hoarse when she was returned. I have heard of dogs becomin hoarse when they come into heat but shes long out of it amd still very hoarse. Anyone know what could have caused it amd what we could do to get her voice back? Shes kept in a kennel all the time except when the guy borrowed her. He had her on a chain. I had someone say she may have choked herself from not bein used to bein on a chain. Anybody have any opinions and what we could do to get her voice back?

There's a post on the first page by Bob Hennessey "prednisone for dogs". I've used that same method with success. I also add a couple of cc's of penicillin for 3 days. Also a teaspoon of regular ole mustard has been told to me by some old timers, which I am now. Good luck.
