Diamond Food smells funny

I have fed diamond products a bunch, but recently switched to pro plan, after they switched there formula and having problems with loose stool. I noticed purina smells a lot better, and my dogs like the taste better. Unfortunately I have also noticed they seem to be itching more. So I went and bought a bag of taste of the wild, an expensive diamond made feed. My dogs eat it and look good, itching is gone, and there stool is tighter, but imo it smells awful and they don't seem near as anxious to eat it, and still seem to prefer pro plan. It seems that all of diamonds food regardless of the price point has the same awful smell. Anyone else notice this?
