Explain Please !
I make an attempt at explaining. All cast have a judge assigned to them. Only a one dog cast is required to have a non- hunting judge. 2 dog casts and above can have a hunting judge, but any questions that can't be resolved by the two handlers in the woods results in delete, unless it involves scratching a dog, and then the result is like any other cast number of hounds. A scratching offense would require you to come back for an MOH or panel hearing. As for the time keeping box on the card, it is simply a record keeping area for the cast and is not required to have anything at all written in it. As should have been heard as the checklist was read to the casts, the strike and tree column must have a value in them. That value is Plus, Minus, Circle, or delete in the strike and tree columns, the middle section of the tri-folded score card. No other sections matter. The totals side of the card is for admin purposes and does not have to be filled out with anything. Should there not be a value in the strike and tree columns, then the dog involved is scratched. Remember, the handler signs the card to ensure it is right in the woods before returning it to the official, so don't say you got the shaft if you signed an incomplete card. It was your fault as the handler. As MOH, I have had to scratch a winning hound twice this year because the handler certified the card with signature, and there was no value stated in one of the above said columns. One time the it was the judge, the other not. Yes, I can see the frustration you have, but sometimes we are frustrated by old rules, or we just haven't kept ourselves up to snuff as we should. If for some reason the above wasn't completed right on the card, then there is a formal complaint form and hearing that u could have requested as a handler. Did you do that? If not, again, any rule that was wrong, is still partly your fault for not doing so. I am not trying to find blame here on anyone, just trying to explain that just as they have in Washington DC, we have a system of checks and balances here in UKC when it comes to rules too, to ensure it is right before the night is over.
