Sometimes that's the way it goes. I knew the Johnson boys had one. Anybody else?

A friend of mine had a female and she ended up in a river. She wasn't worth digging a hole for.

I had one off sun and Shea and she was as accurate as any dogs alive today and when she hunted she run to catch but she had a common mouth and she hunted when she wanted to and not until!!! We bred her and she put some awsome pups on the ground and imean hustlers huge mouths and accurate. But as I said she was common at best !!! My opinion Shea was way way overrated as a reproducer and imean way overrated !!!! 1 out of10 isn't reproducing!!!!

We had one of sunrise x shea. Had a very common mouth about 60 bpm on the tree. Super accurate but maybe treed one to two times a night, not a dog you're gonna have an action packed night with. Pounded the ground way to much. Was very independent to his credit not a bad dog just not what you would expect off such an awesome reproducing female lol

I think both Shea and her brother were over rated. Throw a lot of second and second dogs and you can't win much with that. Should have worked but didn't to many people breeding for papers that should have thrown them in the river with them. OOOPS

That sounds like a pretty accurate description of him. He looked real good this spring. Extremely accurate, treed coons where you put him, not the next section away. His mouth is pretty common. He ended up with mange this summer & didn't get hunted at all. He's been hunted some this fall but there were some nights he never made a tree. Dad loves hunting standing corn fields & I don't think that male can run a track out of the corn. He has remained pretty accurate but he is no world beater. He doesn't get hunted enough, but he is a good old man's dog and I guess that's what my dad is now so they get along.
I've never been hunting with him but I get a report nearly every time they go.
I will say he is a heck of a nice dog to be around. My wife & kids walk him around the neighborhood when we're over there. I keep wanting to let him in the house but so far the garage is as far as he gets.

Yep Jose was excellent to be around my dad let him sleep at the foot of his bed lol. He had his moments but he didn't have the flash consistently. Glad he's making a nice dog for your dad. He's got a great temperament and a lot of times that is what matters most

10 years ago I don't think he would have made the grade for my dad but at this point I think having a low maintenance dog that is a pleasure to be around and hunts in the pocket good and has raccoons in his trees is exactly what my dad needs now. I know he can't stand listening to a dog wallow on a track but other than that he has no complaints.
I don't know if you dad remembers but I drew him a while back at the Cedar River Classic. He was hunting Turbo I think. I found his coon in the last seconds of the hunt giving him the win. One of the last hunts I hunted in. Wasn't a great hunt but I think I sure made his night.
I'm a bit surprised to hear that Jose is above average for Shea pups. I would have guessed her to reproduce better.

I gotcha yes I remember him telling me about that hunt and you did make his night for sure! My dad sold Turbo to Ora Thomas here in Iowa but I guess he passed away about a year ago. Too bad he was a very nice dog most nights would walk your legs off and had that flash to treeing coon that makes it fun to go out, he was out of fighting side and whitey bred on the bottom
