It was sad when had heard of Alex passing.
Your grandfather Alex Ward was one of the nicer gentlemen in the coonhound world. I called him my friend. Alex always packed a hound that would win. Alex was one tough cooner that enjoyed pleasure hunting also.
Alex was a well know man at the Ashland Co. coon hunter's club. Each year the BBCHA holds their spring hunt there. When you saw Alex you knew who you had to beat for he had Stoney and several young hounds off him thru the years that he always won with. Alex and his hounds won the big Spring hunt several times.
When you arrived and saw Alex, you were always greeted with a handshake and a big, big smile, asking you to have a cup of coffee with him.
Stoney was one of the better reproducers of good hounds..
Mike Reutter's Grand Nite Bandit of Lakeville Ohio was one of the best balanced hounds off of Stoney and Kenny Kegler's female that I had ever seen.
As you can see of his pedigree, Stoney was from some top hounds of that time. I have had in those years some of the same blood as shown in Stoney's pedigree.I had a brother to Milner's Ranger and one Grand Nite female off of Tahsuda's Arkie. both were good hounds.
I believe, that the female which placed 2nd in the 2014 ukc world hunt, (Ginger) that John Gill owns, might be from some of the blood off of Stoney. There is a forum on here about her.
Hope this helps some.
