Prayer Request-The Dearest Man I know
I come before the coonhunting community tonight both with a heavy heart, but also with the comfort that comes from being a fellow christian brother to many, many wonderful people on this board.
You see, I turned my life over God and accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior just a little over three years ago. I trust the lord to give me all I Need and I know that this will happen. I only pray that God allows me just a little more quality time with my dear father, Mr. Leroy Delbert Mayles. As his many friends (in this area) always referred to him as COWBOY.
You see last Tuesday I went in for knee reconstruction of my right ACL and meniscus tendons. On Wednesday evening my brother found Dad on his bedroom floor suffering from a severe stroke. Dad is in Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio as the team of doctors try to determine the extent of his partial and possible permanent damage.
Dad is 89 years young, and loves the call of a good hound as it unravels an old coon track. Dad taught me all he knew about reading a dogs body language and what to do to get that dog to trust you enough to do what it is bred to do without fear of repercussion. Dad has had a good long life of following these hounds but I pray tonight that it doesn't end here. I pray that Dad gets to hear his ole hound come treed one more time and that he can do so in a fashion that allows him to tell me just one more good ole coon chase story.
I come to all my brothers and sisters in christ tonight to ask that you lift my Dad up in prayer, that he have a good enough recovery that he is able to enjoy the night air and the call of his hound at least one more time.
This man is so very special to me, as He and I have traveled many miles together chasing these ole English hounds.
I thank you all for reading this, those of you that still have your father in good enough health that he makes it to the woods with you, on a regular basis, enjoy every minute of the stories he shares of yesteryear.
For those of you who have had a Dad, that has passed on that was not only your very best friend but also your very best hunting buddy, then you already know the size of the mountain I am now facing.
Though Im not giving up on Dad, as God does provide miracles, I realize he has a tough row to hoe at this point. But with your many prayers and Gods tremendous grace, all thing are possible
Thanks to all for allowing me to share, Best of luck to all attending the Oaks in a couple weeks.
