Tek 1 vs Garmin Astro

Does the Tek 1 or 2 work as well as the Garmin Astros or Alfas?
Thinking about trying a Sport Dog Tek 1. Thanks for any info.

.

Well with the Tek 2 coming, they may even the playing field some.

BIg, Big benefit to the guys that use pack/speed hounds is the HOPTEK or Frequency Jumping. Coonhunters very seldom run into an interference problem and if they do can solve it real easy. You take hunters that run large packs of hounds and the Garmin has its limits.

Other than the usual answer of a map, could you elaborate some? Have you used the tek 1 to compare to Garmin?

Map.......

I thought about looking into one of these, I don't need the map part, just need to know the correct direction and distance to my hound.
Do they have good range and does it lose signal much ?
