Carnivore

CARNIVORE begins its fourth season this week on PURSUIT CHANNEL, 393 on Dish and 604 on Direct. The first episode is a bobcat hunt with hounds in South Texas and it will air Saturday @ 12:30 am, Saturday @ 1:30 pm and Sunday @ 7:00 pm EST. We are the ONLY outdoor show that regularly airs episodes of hunting predators with hounds. I hope that you will tune in.
Adios,

Just got done watching it. Great hunt, looked like fun. I didn't get why they used a dozen hounds to run a bobcat, and what breed some of them dogs were. Got the DVR set to record them all, looking forward to it.

Carnivor

Hello Gary, I watched this show yesterday and absolutely enjoyed it. I love seeing the different types of terrain around the country.

I noticed the trees were quite small, but very thick brush where this show was taped. I was surprised that they were able to keep those cats up such small trees but I'm guessing the large pack helped to keep them from jumping out.

Curious about the tail length of several hounds as they appeared to be a little short. But after giving it some thought I'm curious if that is intentional to keep the hounds from beating their tails so bad in the thick brush, that they might experience heavy blood loss from beating their tails against the trees when working the tracks in such thick brush.

Any thoughts???

Yes, I feel that having a dozen or so dogs helps keep the cats up but remember that the cats are pretty well blown out before they climb.
Joe bobs the tails on all of his dogs to keep them from beating them to death on the tight thorny brush.
Thanks so much for the nice comments.
Adios,
Gary

This week I will not be hunting with hounds rather calling coyotes in South Texas with "Old Jack", a 60 year old full body mounted jackrabbit. I hope that you will tune in and like us on facebook at carnivoretv.
Thanks and Adios,

Hello Gary,

I thoroughly enjoyed watching old Jack at work during this weeks episode of Carnivore. I was absolutely shocked by the attention that bobcat gave to old Jack. I thought for a minute the bobcat was going to tear Jack apart!

This is a great program and I look forward to watching every Sunday evening. Please keep the episodes coming!

Thanks,
Jim

Do you know how many calls and how many miles it took to finally get a bobcat to crawl upon a full body mounted jackrabbit???? It was my goal to get this accomplished for this season and to finally get it done was special.
I think more than anything else, this proves what I have been preaching for many years, a bobcat's olfactory senses are very poor. I promise you that Jack had plenty of my sweat and stink on him after being packed from stand to stand in the warm weather.
Adios,
Gary

Thanks Friends! This week Chris Robinson who heads up the "Night Crew" will be calling cats and coyotes in North Texas. Chris has totally revolutionized night calling as he is using over 70 million candle power of white light. Critters look like they are running into Texas Stadium at halftime. I hope that you will join us and "like" us on facebook at carnivoretv.
Just finished an episode this morning where I was calling fox and shooting them with a Ruger Single Nine in .22 Magnum. I am building the show around my Great Uncle, Bass Outlaw, Texas Ranger who was considered to be the greatest pistolero in the Old West.
Thanks and Adios,
Gary
