size of dog house

what are the ideal dimensions of a dog house for a hound? I've been using plastic barrels and want to replace them with woods houses.

There was a thread on here at one point about how to make a dog box out of one sheet of plywood. I had built some the same way and they are just the right size in my opinion. If you can find that thread it would save you some money and you would have some nice dog boxes.

Most dogs houses are too big for the dog they house. A dog's body heat needs to heat the area above its body. I prefer a dog house size that allows the dog to stand and do the circle thing they do before laying down. So roughly 28"x28" or 30"x30" and about 24" high.

The huge downside to wooden doghouses are they are HEAVY!Ive built several that were the perfect size but it takes two people to move them.Last thing I need to tear my back out over is a dog house.

I want to build one quadraplex dog house. I keep my dogs in the back yard and their houses are on the deck. so one sheet should be wide enough for 4 houses. I like the 24 x 36 because it gives room to lie down and to curl up and get 4 cells from a sheet of plywood.
