anyone line breeding for big game dogs

Not looking for big name dogs. Just good solid dogs that are bred to run bear, lion, bobcats, or fox.
My thought are that you should see the same dog at least 3 times in a 3 generation pedigree.
So if you or someone you know is line breeding tell us about the dogs. what breed, how long you've been breeding them, breed, what type of game they are hunted on, and what you like and dislike about them. tx Bill

My hunting buddy has a line of treeing walkers that started with Al Rennich. He's been line breeding them for 30+ years, with very few out crosses. All of his current dogs are bred around a dog (lucky) he raised about 15 years ago. At 7 months old luck could catch a grey fox by himself. He also turned into a no quit bear dog.

These dogs were run on bear mainly, but can also catch grey fox and bobcats. It's not uncommon for my buddy to catch 10+ bobcats on dry ground in a season, but he doesn't think that they're cat dogs.

I think that there only(?) fault is they are very hard headed. My buddy says that they have to be that way to catch big walking bears.

I would like to find a line breed family treeing walkers to add into this line. you can check out his website at fallriverwalker.com

tx Bill

WHY ????

Why would you want to set back a line of dogs that took your buddy over 30yrs to build ? Me and a bubby line bred a line of dog, More so for cat and grey's that don't do to bad on bears. I think if one of us was to bring in outside blood the fight would be on !

At some point you will need to bring in new blood in to keep the line healthy. So we have started looking for that new blood before the lines starts to decline because of inbreeding. We also would like to compare what he has done to what others have done.

Can you tell more about your lines of cur dogs?
