Fleas

If you keep your dogs tied out try putting some rock salt around their area, Its cheap and It seems to work. I do this every year and don't have much trouble with fleas.

Dawn Dish washing liquid will kill them instantly they just explode and then spray with permiterin as it is cheap and you can fill a sprayer for less than a buck and spray dogs pens yard etc and it will alst 30 days.

We do this too . Know of several hunters that have started using the flea/tick pill with good results kills the fleas like comfortis and the ticks too . Next trip to the vet I will be getting some .
This summer I have also started using diatomaceous earth in dog houses - only works in dry areas but does work .

COMFORTIS is about the best out there but it can be pretty expensive especially if you have several dogs. Before going that route I'd try Permethrin. You can get it at Tractor Supply, Southern States, or any Feed Store for under $10.

Bathe your dogs, (I usually mix Dawn dish washing liquid with Shampoo) Then mix Permethrin and water in a spray bottle, and spray your dogs down real good (Make Sure to spray down their spine. Start between their ears and go down to their tail and rub it in good). It kills fleas and ticks on contact, and last quite a while.

You can also spray it on your clothes, chaps, vest, etc. and it will flat keep the ticks off of you.

Mix 1/2 gallon bleach, 1/2 a bottle of dish soap, with 1 gallon water. Kills fleas on contact, but remember once you have them, they hatch out daily in and around your dog house, so after you get them off your dog, buy a bag of flea, and tick granules, at wal-mart, and spread around your kennel, and inside dog houses. This has worked for me.

TriFexis sold at the vet kills fleas / heartworm /ticks in 24 hrs. Lasts a month

Also spray everything with Bug-B-Gone (sold @ Homedepot) and make sure you clean out houses

You can also spray a dog down with WD-40. It will kill on contact, but won't do much for keeping them off.
