BRIGHTEST LIGHT

is not always better,i have found more coon looking at me with the light on the lowest setting.thats why i use Bright eyes lights, when you need to burn the tree with a bright light or to find those coons that will just look at the softest light Bright Eyes will get the job done.

I don't know what the LUX is. I have had it next to a light that was said to be 80,000 LUX and the Hotspot was brighter.

Bruce has said that they would not state the LUX on the hotspot.

"What is the Lumens or Lux of your light?
We have sold lights for 4 years and we have made it a practice not to publish these numbers. A lot of numbers being published are not correct. Some are intentionally stated wrong to sell product while others are stated wrong because the instruments used to take the measurements were not not used correctly. Like I said earlier we spend a lot of time on the road every year attending Coon Hound Events. Your are more than welcome to compare any light we have to any other light. We actually encourage that so you know exactly what your are purchasing. At these events we stay till it gets dark for those that want to see our lights can."

This is from Bruce's ad on the light in the vendors section.. If you have any questions about the light send Bruce a pm I'm sure he will do his best to answer any questions you may have.

I have the Hotspot and his Magnum light. Each light has five click, the hotspot is just a little bit brighter on he first 4 clicks BUT when you turn it to the 5th click it is way brighter than the Magnum.

Best lite?

If we rank lites in order of Lux,why would some not tell the world the Lux output? How would you like shopping for a truck, and the dealer would not tell you the MPG?I am sure their is more to building a good lite then being the brightest....how ever, why not list the Lux rating?

Mr. Richard the answer to your question is simple.
Anyone can write something on here and either by making an honest error on a purposeful one say what ever they want. It is obvious that many of the people that get on here taking about the brightest light hasn't seen them all or they wouldn't be saying what they are.

You yourself put two post on here last week talking about a 100,000 lux light. Then a short time later the post were removed. Not sure what that was about and really don't care but that is how things can come and go on here.

We have our lights at just about every major hunt during the year. All anyone has to do is take the light they think is the brightest and compare it to the HOTSHOT and I am sure they will see a difference and they will go away knowing which one is the brightest. Now next year it may not be the HOTSHOT but it will be a BOSS LIGHT. Someone wants bright at an excellent price $200 for our Boss Magnum is a very good deal. Someone wants the Brightest then for $259 the HOTSHOT is their light.

The truth is from now till the snow falls again most lights turned up on high will not find the coon, only make them harder to find!!

There are a lot of good lights being built by several good men. The bottom line is our competition for the customers business only makes the Lights Coon Hunters use get better and better and I am proud to be part of that no matter what light they buy.

There is another answer to your question also Mr. Richard. Ask five Light Builders to pull out their lux meter and take a reading. You will probably see it done about 5 different ways with 5 different makes and model of meters. OK we can send them all to a lab and let the lab verify what is what or we can put them on a table at a hunt and let the customer pick them up and shine a tree and see the difference. We choose to put ours on the table, its the customer opinion that matters to us!

JMO

MY friend did order a B.E. Ultra.
Waited over 3 weeks.Got fed up and cancelled.NO BS!!

I have NOT seen all the lights out there either. Not bashing anybodys product.

The Laser Torch Pro w/color{and frosted pop cover}
IMO I think its the best all around light with all its features.
Might not be the brightest, its plenty bright. How bright of a light you need to shine a tree w/no leaves anyways?Either its there or its not.
Again JMO

Sam since it is the customer that has to make the choice I think they should be the ones selecting what light they want. I think they should educate themselves by comparisons of lights they see, not what they read on a message board. I have read enough of your post talking about the 80,000 LUX advertised china lights to know that isn't correct. You and I both know that some of the numbers we read about would also melt the heads of the lights.
I make comparisons by shining my light on objects I want to see and then I compare how the different lights show me that object. I think any customer wanting a light should also make some comparisons. Look at some of the pictures you see taken with these lights. The object is whited out because of the brightness. It is the same way at times when looking at something with these lights.

You could probably add to any list I make but there is a lot more to it than LUX.
Some of these lights have a small pencil beam with very little HALO. The some have wider beam and varied HALO diameter.

I can tell you that the beam size and halo means a lot more to me than the Brightness. I have to see at my feet without looking straight down to see what I am fixing to trip over next.

I know the quality of lights you have made for decades and I am truly grateful for that. It just means any light I sell needs to be of high quality if I am going to be successful. Like I said the bottom line to all that means the coon hunter wins!!

We discussed how the LED lights was the future 5 years ago and we discussed if we could ever get more than a half mile out of a Garmin we would be happy. The lights are getting brighter and the Garmins are tracking further. The future is here. I know what I would like to design but it would cost too much. A bump cap like a horse riding hat or motorcycle helmet that was extremely light and had the batteries molded into the construction of it. The light head would be molded into the front of it.

Brightest lite?

Mr. Conkey....you have made a very good point,First let me say this, you are correct..I did make the post about the Sunfire Ultra being 100,000 lux,and shortly after I was asked to take down those posts for reasons unknown to me.Shame on me!I will also let you know that I am using one of those lites Right now.So in a short time you will see and read that same post again, you will not have a long wait.Let me ask you this Bruce...if I purchased a lite say from you,and found out after the purchase that is was not as brite as what I am currently using, would you refund my purchase price? My point is simple to understand,if we have a way to rate the brightness of these lites....why do some not want to play the same game?I understand your point and I get it.however when making a purchase how can the potential customer make a comparison?I am not suggesting that their is only one lite,I am suggesting and I am asking you this...with out a accurate lux reading listed on all lites, how would you like me to make a informed decision?Refer to my earlier statement on purchasing a new truck and the dealer decided not to play the MPG game.

The MPG game is a Government mandated GAME that is played. I have two trucks and two cars and I sure don't get what the MPG rating said. Now go figure. The Government says the auto makers will tell you what milage you will get or be fined and be fined if they tell you wrong. I am not reporting them but mine has always been wrong. So if the auto makers will skew the MPG heck some on a message board will slaughter LUX readings.

With that said here is our return policy copied from the website.

Return Policy
All of our products carry a 15 day money back guarantee. If the product is not what you wanted or does not perform to your standards, please call to receive an RMA number. All returned items must have the RMA number on the return label or box.

Most electronic products carry a one year manufacturer warranty. Please check item description for individual manufacturer warranties.

Like I think I said in an earlier post. When I went to bed last night I could sleep knowing we sell the brightest light being offered. I also know when I wake up in the next morning that can change. You and the customers need to remember one thing. Dealing with ENERGY you don't get something for nothing, all you are doing is converting one type of energy to another. We could make the HOTSPOT brighter but I personally don't want to lower the 5 HOURS of burn time we have on high. I don't know about the rest of you but I couldn't coon hunt with a light that burned 2.5 or 3 hours on high. You also are not going to increase the LUX without increasing the operating temperature. Mine gets warm enough as it is in the 85 degree heat I hunt in.
Advancements are going to be made to the components over the next few years to allow for brighter lights. Right now we take ours to a comfortable edge while some of the competition has been falling off the cliff trying to keep up!!

DING, DING we have a winner!! The Coonhunter!! That is what makes it worth doing!!

I am tired. Going home, get dog and going hunting. Talk all day about bright lights and tonight I will have to get my hunting partner with his Single Boss Cats eye to show me the coon, cause my light is too bright.

Tyler 15,000 LUX would melt that light around your ears!! lol

Well the 100,000 lux light that Leon mentioned is fact.

The Sunfire Ultra Is now 100,000 Lux, Bruce is correct there are a lot of light "dealers" out there that misrepresent the lux readings. We are not one of them. If I tell you it will reach 100,000 then I promise you that's what it will do.

We didn't increase the heat, we didn't decrease the burn time. What we did increase was the efficiency of the light. We cut out the bottle necks in the current and voltage that we are providing to the LED. We changed the manner that we removed the heat from the led. We changed the focal point of the reflector. All of that increased the brightness without a sacrifice to the burn time or the size of the spot and halo.

What you will notice is the color of the white light changed to a more natural color also the color led changed to make it three times brighter than it was. It will be advertised on the vendor board in a couple of days.

Michael - that is an amazing feat with just changing the focal point and keeping the the spot size and halo the same. As we discussed sometime back my reflector that produces 100,000 lux is slightly larger than our current reflector. Looking forward to the pictures and specs.

Bruce - thanks for your response, and you are 100% correct, its about what the customer is happy with - when the customer is happy I'm happy. Sensory perception is what it is all about; case in point, blue glass on the 5100 head. I'm with you on brightness, that's why I haven't pursued my higher lux reflector. I hunted with a fellow in the Haughton and Shreveport club, David Prudhomme, I don't think David hunts right now. If any of the Haughton members or Shreveport members monitor this thread they will verify this story. If you drew David in a hunt and his dog treed first, he would demand his 2 minutes of searching the tree himself. David would turn his light as low as it would go, shake a rattler or something - not a squaller and he would find the coon every time.

Well after reading that last statement, that's 100%, let me rephrase that to, "nearly every time".
