You might be putting his back legs too far back, or, he's testing you.

Have you tried setting his back legs up first?

You can take a pull his tail straight back but not to hard and let go he should spring back forward.

Normal stand

Does not sound like the hound is in its normal stance. Put the hound on the ground gait it for a little and stop get a visual on where his legs are. Then when you put him on the bench put a 1/2 x 1/2 as wide as the bench piece of wood under his front pads. This will keep him forward and position his hind legs at normal stance. Hope this helps.

jeremy...

go to the "Vendors" page and look under Show DVD ready to ship.
I have produced a "how to" dvd on showing. It takes you through the baby steps of getting a dog ready to show either a baby pup or an unbroke grown dog.
Its professional and has 30 years of experience poured into it.
Everyone who has bought one has complimented me on it and said it helped them greatly.
Hope this helps.
p.s. It not only tells you what to do, but shows you how to set one up on the bench and what judges look for.

dont worry about his back legs to you get the front and then go move 1 leg in place for while then the 2nd leg.no 1 way is the right way i have went about it several ways.

if the pup is food oriented you can also use some treats right in front of his/her nose when stacking. get them focsued on treat rathere than what you are doing to them. it takes some coordination on your part!

be sure to NOT 'slide' the back feet on the bench to reposition them. this is the same as rug burn to us. pick up the foot and then put where u want it
