Mac,
PP is scored heavy on line control, and accurate direction with little or few break downs. Speed should not be a factor as fast or slow the dog has to control its track. And of course a hound has to hunt and jump rabbits. Dogs that get their wins and points must also be certified before becoming official PCH. Hounds will also be minused for things such as overshooting, rough running, swinging etc.. Any combination of 3 minuses, results in being scratched. Although it seems similar to arha LP, its very different. In LP, a pack must have a 15sec breakdown before a dog can get check points, in PP there does not have to be a breakdown to recieve them if a dog can show the judge change of line direction and make the turns. Im sure you can find the PP rules here on UKC web. Fast hound or slow hound, if it can run a accurate tight line it can compete well in UKC PP.
Hope this helped some and you go see both UKC formats run. Many trialers do well in both.
