Cabergoline. I would definately NOT recommend it! It is used to abort puppies in Australia.

once again I AM NOT saying you should use this, but I AM saying I did. PG600 is what I used to bring GRNTCHGRCH Boughtons Red Ruby into heat after years of not doing so and long being thought barren because of an earlier litter that went septic. If not for it, there would be a different world show champ this yr.

PG600 is the industry standerd to bring pigs into heat on commercial farms. In those days I had access to it and used it on a daily basis at work. it was something my boss (vet) and I came up with because we figured there was nothing to lose.

as for the other drug you mentioned, haven't heard of or used it sorry.

Our female is 9 years old and late on her cycle, my vet recommend the Gabergoline due to the limited side effects of the drug. We are giving her one pill every 3 days, 6 pills total. The vet says she should start to cycle in 3 weeks from the first pill. Just curious how others dogs have responded to this medication. Thanks.

One pill??? Cabergoline does come in pill form but it is way too high of a dose we have had it crushed and compounded into a liver flavored liquid. I have had a lot of experience with this drug and again....I do not recommend it. I have seen more reabsorptions than live pups born from it. JMHO.

Chris

I found a cabergoline but couldn't find a Gabergoline. in any case its not a drug im familiar with.

Prob because its held by Pfizer and I worked mostly with Intervet

the pg600 is PGSG (preg mare serum) and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG),

its use in dogs now days is accualy fairly common........several years ago...not so much :P

im not sure why your vet chose another option, but he prob had his/her reasons
