Hunting Beagle Nationals Entry Guess

Alright Beagler's, Time for motivating the Nationals, one of the best events of the year for most UKC beagle folks. We the owners and handlers have ask for this event to be Elimination Style for the last few years. UKC and the reps have set it up to be this style this year. Let's see how many entries will be there; Hopefully, It will be the most in UKC HB National History; let's do our part to help by attending and being part of the 1st Elimination Style UKC HB Nationals.

How many entries of each category do you guess will be entered?

My hunt entry guess are as follows:
Reg: 177
CH : 123
GRCH: 60

Total Hunt Entry Guess: 360 dogs

I believe that there will be 43 dogs in the National Show.

Thought I would get the guessing started!!!!!!!!!!!

Fred, thanks for posting this thread. Although over a month out still, I'm getting fired up for the Nationals. I'm hoping the format change will bring some of those that didn't hunt in it for the reason that it wasn't completely elimination previously. We'll see. I couldn't help but notice that your guess of total dogs is less than last year Fred. Haha. I'll put some history numbers out here that might allow for better a better guessing game based on past numbers.

First number represents total hunt followed by show.

95. 216 (no show?)
96. 180 - 35
97. 225 - 41
98. 243 - 47
99. 306 - 54
00. 223 - 42
01. 277 - 44
02. 308 - 51
03. 293 - 34
04. 326 - 26
05. 344 - 41
06. 417 - 36
07. 390 - 25
08. 374 - 41
09. 351 - 44
10. 355 - 34
11. 356 - 31
12. 305 - 32
13. 362 - 23

Specific numbers for each category in 2013 was:

Grands - 59

Champs - 109

Registered - 194

Would be nice to see a good boost in the show. Having a Bench Show seminar, conducted by BSJ - Phil Newland, just prior to the show this year.

Bench Show Seminar

Very Good Idea, I sat under the Bench Show and Conformation Seminar that Mark Threlfall conducted years back when Nationals was held at Holmesville, and learned a lot. Hope, I can be a part of setting in this seminar.

Allen

I did not really know any numbers and I had to leave on Friday Night last year due to a death in our family. Always thought the guessing was a fun gesture over the years to see who guessed closest.

...?

Not sure how this works, so if a guy advances, with his am.entry, will he be able to run his pm. Entry? Wondering how they run off dogs, like do all round a's keep advancing while the pm entries start. Then do all the winners from both rounds start competing against each other? Any info on how this works would be greatly appreciated for us newbies! Lol.

Observation

BY seeing the turnout at the WV HH State Hunt and at NHBA Days it looks like entries are up and were prevalent at both of these events so my guesses may be a little low for Nationals; come on folks this can be interesting to see who guesses the closest.

I'll give it one more day for the sake of any late stragglers coming in on the pony express. But I will narrow the gaps with a clue.

Two weeks ago we had what; sixty entries? Why does everyone wait until last minute to enter? Tresa is stressed out to no end! lol.

Clue: When it comes to total entries, it won't be the largest ever. But.... it will be the second largest!

Sorry for not seeing this sooner...

Round 1(a) will run in the morning followed by those dogs entered in 1(b). Then later in the afternoon we'll run all the cast winners from A and B.

So you're 1(a) and 1(b) entries will not conflict with each other.

I jumped the gun guys. Turns out we had a couple multiples that had to be removed. Therefore, we do not have the second largest entry. We have the third largest entry. The record number is 417 in 2006. The following year saw the second largest with 390. We missed that number by three entries this year for a final total of 387.

The breakdowns are as follows. (shows increase from last year)

64 Grands (5)

122 Champions (13)

201 Registered (7)

here you go

Gr Ch
J Geiger & Seth Shipman guessed 65 ea and the entries 64 only 1 away.

F. Hawkins 123 & Browntrout 120 were only 1 & 2 away on Champions

Reg
Joe B only 19 away from 201 with his guess of 220; Joe is usually only Halfway

Hey our buddy Owen D deserves a mention as his guess on Gr Ch was only 3 under.

Thx,
For participating on this guessing thread!

That # is kind of disappointing do to the fact that it's elimination now just like the majority of us want and the CCBC stepped up so it could happen don't you all think this should have been the largest one ever for just those reasons I'm sure UKC was expecting it to be bigger and it deserved to be bigger. I know I was especially when UKC are striving to make it better for us.So what do you all think. There are several folk that said that won't come until it becomes elimination style and now that it is I still don't see them entering dogs.
