Just trying to figure this all out. I have never tried to make it to the world before. I had asked this same question a couple years ago and was told nothing of all this.
All these things that are mentioned are great, but I wouldn't categorize them as prizes for winning the UKC World Hunt. They are incentive offered by the various breed associations to try to get their breed at the top.
UKC offers no cash award for winning the World Hunt. From year to year the prizes may be slightly different but here is what Main Street John the Baptist got this year as a prize package:
On of a kind World Championship Ring and jacket from UKC, an Alpha from Garmin, dog box from Owens products, 24 custom embroidered caps from Midwest Custom Embroidery, 2-month dog supply from Purina, Canine Wellness package from Platinum Performance, a Sherpa handler bag from Mud River Dog Products, and half off a training fee from Fair Shake Starting Pen.
If you add all that up I think the cost would be pretty high but honestly I think the UKC World is about much more than the prize package or how much you are going to make off of it. A lot of it is the prestige of winning it. Just think that in the year 2013 over 6,000 dogs and handlers tried to go to the World by entering an RQE, and only one of them could be the eventual winner. That's a pretty big accomplishment in anyone's book.
