$5000 will be given away to the 2014 UKC World Champion as long as the winner meets the following criteria. 1) The winner must be a UKC registered Treeing Walker. 2) All owners on file at UKC must be current members of the TWB&FA. If a handler is used they must also be members of the TWB&FA. 3) The owners of the 2014 UKC World Champion must have entered a dog ( any breed ) at Walker Days 2014. Entries to Walker Days must be postmarked no later than April 5th, 2014. Curtis this is one prize that is up for grabs if the criteria are met.

$10,000. to the BNT that wins the world hunt as long as the owners are paid up members of the ABTCHA I believe before the zones hunts start. Or if no World Champion then they get paid about 10% of that to the top Black and Tan male and female of the world hunt.

So, I have a dog qualified to go to zones. If I win at zones and go to the world and happen to win I get nothing if I don't go to walker days and be a member of a breed association? Just trying to figure this all out. I have never tried to make it to the world before. I had asked this same question a couple years ago and was told nothing of all this.

All these things that are mentioned are great, but I wouldn't categorize them as prizes for winning the UKC World Hunt. They are incentive offered by the various breed associations to try to get their breed at the top.

UKC offers no cash award for winning the World Hunt. From year to year the prizes may be slightly different but here is what Main Street John the Baptist got this year as a prize package:

On of a kind World Championship Ring and jacket from UKC, an Alpha from Garmin, dog box from Owens products, 24 custom embroidered caps from Midwest Custom Embroidery, 2-month dog supply from Purina, Canine Wellness package from Platinum Performance, a Sherpa handler bag from Mud River Dog Products, and half off a training fee from Fair Shake Starting Pen.

If you add all that up I think the cost would be pretty high but honestly I think the UKC World is about much more than the prize package or how much you are going to make off of it. A lot of it is the prestige of winning it. Just think that in the year 2013 over 6,000 dogs and handlers tried to go to the World by entering an RQE, and only one of them could be the eventual winner. That's a pretty big accomplishment in anyone's book.

I know a bunch who try time and again to win this World Hunt but I can't think of a one who ever gave any thought to the prize package. As for these "bounties" being put up by the breed associations, i think it's great but has anyone noticed that NOBODY can seem to collect one? The Walkers win World Hunt after World Hunt until they put up a bounty and then the English take over. But the English don't offer no bounty. Anyway, most who care about what it all pays are hunting the other KC. They have a great World Hunt too.

I've always wondered how many try to win the World Hunt but this is the first time I have seen any kind of figure. That's a lot of tries!

Curtis you do not have to hunt at Walker Days. You just have to have entered a dog (any breed) at Walker Days. Your entry at Walker Days qualifies you if you make the run all the way to the UKC World title to receive the $5000. Hope this clears up your question and Good Luck!

I kind of doubt there were over 6,000 dogs and handlers trying to win the UKC world. I have no doubt there were that many entry's but most were re-entry's.

I get a laugh when the $KC club say they enter over a 1,000 at there world hunt. I guess its true but it's basically the same 300 or so dogs re-entering throughout the week.

The kennel clubs have to spin it so they look good
