Scoring a coon jumping out of a tree??

Was just pleasure hunting last night when this happened but wondered how this could be handled in a hunt.....

Our dogs got treed and as we were heading into them and just getting into seeing distance the coon jumped out of the tree and quickly started down the hill. My female saw it come out and was nipping at its tail all the way down till it got into a big den.

Would it then be a circle tree? Would you have to re-tree them? Could they get minus for leaving that other tree? It all happened within a matter of seconds when that coon bailed out. Funniest thing i've seen in awhile....

It would be a bad break but you would minus the dogs that left the tree as you cannot count the coon as seen until dogs are handled and shine time started.

And therein lies the comedy with nite hunts. Pretend you didn't see it and get shafted because of it. Kind of like a judge ordering a jury to not hear what they just heard. lol

It would be minus. The shining time hadn't started even if you seen it in the tree. Its a bad break but that's how it falls.

The dog that left would be minused for leaving. Any dog that stayed would be scored for the tree.

I seen that happen in a night hunt. As the dogs were being handled the coon bailed out of the apple tree and took off. Talk about a lucky break.... There was another coon up there and they got to plus the tree.

Walker days last year it was bright Friday night and watched a coon run up a tree right next to us in a fence row. Dogs were tied back and shine time started and no coon to be seen. It was a den so it was circled. Walking out of the woods, shine it and 2 coon sitting on the outside. Just a tough break.
