Bingo...if those "good ole' dying breed boys" don't play straight why would you allow them to "cost you a sale???" If I am selling something,, anything, I am not here to make friends I am here to make money, period end of story. If you say "hold it I want it" can you guess exactly how long it gets "held???" I will absolutely hold it for you...right up to the point where somebody shows me the money.
That said, in regards to buying a puppy, I think what happens a lot of times is that the buyer finds, for example, a better bred pup, a closer to get to pup, a cheaper pup. Until he seals the second deal he doesn't want to let go of yours because he might have to fall back on it. Is it wrong to treat a seller this way??? Yeah, to some extent. But not telling you the whole truth and nothing but the truth is not the same as lying. Bottom line here is that if as a seller you know potential buyers might do this then why would you blindly hold a puppy or dog without a deposit??? Speaking for something with words is not worth squat, speaking for something with a good faith cash deposit counts.
