Guys I know ever seller goes through this but the main question is WHY????

Why do people call pm and say yes I will take te dog checks in the mail. Then keep stringing along. Please if things change you can't afford, can't afford, find another dog, please just say you don't want any longer.


Guys when you do this you cost someone a sale. If you say you want we take off the board, and someone else interested chances good they will buy something else while they are itchy. It's so time consuming and just makes it harder on the next people that we deal with.

So look if you don't have the money, the true interest to buy, or your wife might say no, just don't say check is in the mail. What people like you create is for sellers to make buyers wire the money and that cost more money. No one wants that.

We are all supposed to be good old boys, a dying bred so please let's treat our fellow hunters with the same respect and integrity we want to be treated with.

They do it because people put up with it.
If I'm selling something , I tell everyone up front.......
First one here with the money wins. Simple.

If I tell a man I'll get a dog, I'll get it. I usually think it over for a while before I commit. I've missed getting a few dogs because of this but at least I can say that I do what I say I will do.

I have a question for ya'll that say the first one here with the money gets the dog. Not trying to start an argument, just curious. I rarely respond to an add that says first money gets the dog because I think about driving several hours to pick up a dog and being told when I get there that the dog was sold 30 minutes ago. My question is, if someone calls you tonight and lives 3 hours away and wants to pick up the dog after work tomorrow will you hold it that long? Or is it a mad race to see who can get there with the money first? I know I would be pissed if I drove several hours to get a dog and it was sold before I got there.

I had someone who wanted to but a male and female pup. Siad there were on the way. Never showed . When I finally got in touch through text he said the whole family came down with mercer. Said they 'd pick up the pups when they got out of the hospital. Really? I guess they never got better...although I 've seen some of the family on some UKC boards.

Really folks. Don't use as excuse. Man up and tell the truth. I have much more respect for the truth tellers. How hard is it to say " Sorry but I changed my mind."?

Well, I have gotten on puppy list for two or three litters before, Heck, I am on three now. I am not buying three pups. I plan on buying just one, did I lie? NO, I tell the seller, I am on other list and I will choose which pup I want when and/or if they have pups. One list I am 7 or 8 in line and she isn't bred yet and since I only hunt females well chances I won't get one, on another, I am "if she has enough" on another, I am third but he doesn't know if she is with pups. I plan on buying one pup for next hunting season. To many times I have been on just one pup list just to find out no pups so that means I am not hunting a pup that season. It's my money, if I change my mind that's my right. I believe the sellers misrepresent the truth more than the buyers.

i sell about one or two dogs a year and i have heard all kinds of bs from buyers and i have got to where i can pretty much tell if they are gunna show up or not but to answer the original question if someone was on there way 3 hours from my house i would hold that dog for him because if he is willing to make that drive then he deserves that dog and if he doesnt show then thats his reputation that hes throwing away and i dont want to make myself look bad in anyones eyes if i can help it

Personally I think some buyers just don't have the gonads to tell a seller outright that the dog for sale isn't what they want or they can't afford it, so they give a seller a line of BS.

If I am buying one and I tell someone I'm coming then I do. If something out of my control were to happen and could not then I would call the seller and tell him. Not after a week. As soon as I know. If I'm selling and someone agrees to buy I will assume the dog sold and will hold if they say they are coming. I will give the person the benefit of the doubt. That they coming. Now if its over a week then I would ask for payment. Cause then u know the dog belongs to them and there coming. I will try and accomodate anyone. Till they prove not trustworthy. Sometimes a person can't come till the weekend. Work with people to try and get them the dog. They will appreciate how you do business. .if the person don't come when they say they will then the dog is still for sale. And don't consider it sold until its paid for or picked up. But don't say first one with the money gets it. Cause that not the way to sell them either. Never sell the dog to 2 people. Tell the 2nd person interested the dog is sold pending payment and pickup. And if it falls threw I will call and tell you the dog is available if someone backed out.

In over 30 years of hunting tree dogs, I have never stood a seller up. Been lied to about dogs many, many times, been stood up to take some of these world beaters to the woods, but to answer your question, no I can't recall ever calling a breeder and telling them to remove me from a list, never had one (breeder) call and get upset that I didn't and never asked for a deposit back. Heck there's breeders now that I have deposits with that I will never hear from again. Believe me if somebody fools with these old dogs long enough they will hear everything, mostly from the sellers. Just learn to move on and remember who is truthful and who isn't and never buy without trying.
