Heres one for the Garmin GURUS

Ok, me and a buddy of mine went hunting last night I have a 320 system and he has a 220 system. He had got a new dog so I put one of my collars on his new dog because he only has 1 dc40. The dogs get gone My 320 looses signal at 850 with my dc 40 and never picks back up until I break out the truck mount antenna. His 220 and dc 40 shows his dog to be staying at 680 yards and not moving but is not showing the dog treed. After about 30 minutes of it showing the dog at 680 we head toward his dog in the truck. His 220 never looses communication with his dc 40 and as we are headed toward the dog the yardage drops as it should. Well here is where is gets odd we get to within 50 yards of his dog and it jumps from 50 yards to .80 miles and it never did show it had lost signal with the collar....What's up with that? I have never seen that happen before. He is not to good with a computer So I tell him I will bring his system home with me and see if It needs updated. Well here is another odd deal. I know the 320 updates the collars off the handheld and no computer is need to update 30's and 40's. Well my 320 is up to date software wise I added his dc40 to my 320 and check for update on the collar it says that it is up to date. Well I hook his 220 up to the computer and run the web updater it shows the handheld is up to date. So I think what the heck while its hooked up I'll run the collar to see if it is up to date and sure enough It needed an update. Why would my up to date 320 show the dc 40 was up to date then I run it on the web updater with the 220 and it shows it's not? It had 4.00 and it updated to 4.10. I have a dc30 and dc40 and they also did the same thing. I'm puzzled.

Also, I know on the 320 you have to run check additional updates to get the collar updates. I do that every time and it shows no new updates found. So my 320 showed to be up to date collar wise and software wise. But its not.

Mine has done the same thing several times. If you would have looked I bet the hand held would have showed the collar its self had lost GPS communication. It still had communication with the hand held but the collar showed it being where the last place it knew its self to be. Because it was communicating with the hand held it was still showing the dog emblem on your screen instead of the question mark it shows when the collar and hand held loose communication. At least that is what has happened to mine.

I would say your right we didn't check that. I had never seen one do that before. I have always seen it show the ? before when they lose communication.

They only show that when they loose communication between the handheld and the collar. The Collar can loose GPS signal and when it does this it is still talking to the handheld. So it thinks it knows where it is, so it doesn't show the question mark.
