Advertised events- can they be cancelled

We have a event at the beginning of April and we have a Water Race scheduled. However, I don't think our pond will be thawed by then. so what is the correct procedure ? Advertise and wait and see?

This may be a problem for numerous clubs here in the great frozen north.

We've had to eat our license fee the last 2 years because the pond was completely ice covered still . Ours is one of the last to thaw because it doesn't get much sunlight that time of year . Wasn't even close , completely covered except for a few inches around the edge .
Must be we've cured the global warming thing .

To answer your original question....no....events cannot be cancelled. The reason for that is event participants need to be assured that when they see an event advertised in the Upcoming Events list it will actually be held once they get in the truck and drive a couple hours to attend. If clubs could simply just cancel an event whenever they felt like it we would have some mighty unhappy customers.

That being said, in cases such as what you are describing, those things tend to work themselves out. We get very few complaints when it's pretty much impossible to hold an event because of something weather related.

Thanks

Thank you Todd K. that's what I thought.
On another thought. would it still be a water race if we loaded the dogs in the box had a coon and the dogs ran on top of the water (ice) ?
