I need your opinion on this

When breeding your stud to a female with no stud fee not to mention you gave them the female for free to begin with (forget that part though) If you were expecting pups for stud how many pups should you get. I've always thought 3 or more pups that you should get two pups. What's ur thoughts.

It depends on the deal and what both parties agree too. It should be discussed prior to the breeding. However, one or two pups to the Stud owner for Stud fee is common. Sometimes the owner of the female only wants one or two. It varies on the situation. The best deal to be made is one the stud owner and breeder agree too. Point is don't "expect" anything without making an agreement first. Just my opinion.

thanks so much guys

We did kinda have a verbal agreement but then they fell in love with too many of the pups before I got to look at em. I did all the wormer and shots on both ends as well. O'well ya live and learn. Who wants to do a written agreement on some pups. Either I need to not breed this nice of pups to where people argue over em or get it in writing. Thanks again cause I shared this page with em so you guys were kinda like the jury and i was in the right. Thanks Norm

I had something like this happen to me once. They may have been in love with the choice pup but I still took it. That was the deal and I held them to it.

When breeding for a pup, I always set a number....6 or 8 usually.... if she raised more than that, I got 2. I have this understood before the female is ever bred. Most of the time, this encourages the female owner to go ahead and pay a stud fee.

They pick one, I picked second and third.

If someone raises a litter and puts all the hard work in, I'm not going to take the best looking pup in the litter from them.

I agree w/ hat creek

1 pup- stud owner gets 0

2-8 pups- stud gets 1 pup

9 + pups - stud gets 2 pups

Average litter is 7... That way the dam still gets 7 if she has 9 and it benefits the stud owner if she has a whopping litter.

WELL? I think 1 stud fee ,1 pup! After all guys most of these stud dogs are lucky to have the chance to breed a nice female. I realy think that the stud dogs should be paying the female for the chance to produce a good cross.( The female has all the chance for bad thing happening to her during the whole ordeal of having pups l)
