I recently bought a 3 yr old male dog that is heavy preacher bred. He is a good hunting dog, Great mouth, good looks and a tree dog second to none. The dog is stone cold silent, which I don't mind, just wondering if this was a common trait in preacher dogs ? He has a little woodstock on the bottom and they are known for being quiet. Never had any preacher bred dog, just wanting a little info on them and their hunting styles. Thanks for any help

Nice to hear someone has a heavy bred Preacher dog. We owned Preacher from 1998 until his death in 2002 at 7 years old. He died from cancer far too young. He produced 356 pups during the years we had him at stud. The majority of them were hard hunters, good mouths, very accurate and independent. Yes, some of them were tight on the ground but most opened some. We are still hunting and raising dogs that go back to Preacher. We currently have a GR NT female that is a grandpup out of Preacher that we just bred to World Champion John the Baptist.

I raised a litter out of preacher most of them i kept up with were open trailers ,some could be a little tight ,stay put tree dogs with the meat.I hunted with preacher, all COONDOG !!!!
