To my coon hunting friends and family; I ask for your thoughts and prayers for our good friend Joe Searles and his family. Joe was placed in Hospice yesterday. He is failing fast after a short but gallant fight against cancer. Joe has been a long time friend and mentor to many young houndsmen for years in northern Indiana. So is a long time supporter of the BBCHA and a long time BBCHA board member. I know his influence has gone out to many a good houndsman, whether or not they hunted blueticks like him or not. Joe is as good a man as I've meet in the hound world. He has been a great friend and mentor for nearly 20 years. I hope all who know him will respond in kind with prayer and thoughts to his wife Peg, daughter Terry, and son Todd, as well as his beloved grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Yesterday, Rev. Don Watson and I drove to Ft. Wayne and visited with Joe & Peg and Terry & Todd. Joe is very weak and his heart is working at only 50%. Peg knows that his time is short. Joe is a strong Christian and ready for his heavenly hunt. He still has his ever present smile. Don and I prayed with them and left Joe in God's hands. Your prayers are much appreciated!

Dang. Joe is one of my all-time favorites to talk to at the hunts. Ran rabbit dogs with him a few times. Truly one of the class acts in this sport. Thinking of Joe and his family.

I received word this morning that Joe past away last night. Funeral arrangements are currently being made. Thank you to all who sent prayers to Joe and the family, but please continue to offer prayers for the family as they recover from their loss.
