Talking HERE WE COME

typical U.S. household headed by a person age 60 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone less than 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. If all of us 'old guys and gals' have all of the money, then let us try to elect someone who might be near-honest and not be after feathering his or her own nest.

We're referred to as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" nearing retirement. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old-fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books (or with Common Core, have NOT read at all), and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are older and slower these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and NO ONE is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies." You have now tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and many have begun to see you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.'

Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2014 we're going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.

So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."

Footnote:
This is spot on. I am another Gray-Haired (or NO Haired) Geezer signing on. I will circulate this to other Geezers all over this once-great county.
Can you feel the ground shaking??? It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE. We are spreading the word to our churches, to our town halls, and to our neighbors, to VOTE and take back our nation!

I was born in 1949. Our curfew was the street lights, We laid in the back window of the car when going somewhere, If you where lucky enough to have a Sunday car, We had chores that had better been done. We had a Willow Tree that served as a Enforcer for discipline adjuster. Our Coke came out of bottle. To hear it from the "Intelligent" people tell it, We're were raised wrong!!! Maybe they need to follow our example!!!

No offense I admire all of you for what you have done in America and I am proud to be an American. But let me say this, I didn't vote for Obama and I hate that he was elected mostly by my generation. All that being said your generation was what put America where we are today. You didn't vote in Obama but you did raise the kids that raised the kids that put Obama in control. I'm 26 years young and not here to run it down but if you think about it Obama wasn't the elected president he was the selected president! I think there is nothing anyone can do to change that I wish with all my heart there was. History repeats itself that is proven. So if you think about it America is only headed to fail. Rome fell and all those like it. America will fail just like those who came before it. It has nothing to do with who voted what in. America will fall to #2, #3, #?, why not because of my generation but because of the choices that have been made by many generations not just my own. I hate it for my boys. I hate if for myself, my wife, our children's children and so on but it is written in the only book that counts. The end is nigh... The best thing anyone can do is pray, believe in god and follow his word. Then if and when the inevitable dies happen at least even if we are not in country #1 we can be in heaven #1 (amazing the only # that matters). As much as it pains me to write it this is the way it was designed America has chosen the path America is taking which is the way of sodom. We live in an era of change the only thing that matters is I pray for my children that through no matter what they have faith and join me one day in the kingdom which isn't America or any other country but heaven. This life doesn't matter only the one that last eternally. Think about it put some effort into what matters quit worrying about why we are here or how we got here. Think about where you are going only and I repeat only that matters.

0022, I agree that everyday we spend in this world ought to be spent serving THE LORD!! I also think we should do everything possible to EDUCATE THE YOUTH to WORSHIP THE LORD. THE CHURCHES @ HERE ARE HAVING A HARD TIME PAYING THEIR BILLS. WHEN THE ECONOMY DRIES UP, PEOPLE FORGET THAT THE CHURCH STILL NEEDS OUR SUPPORT. WE put $100.00 Dollars in THE COLLECTION PLATE THE FIRST SUNDAY, AND THEN $50.00 DOLLARS THE REST OF THE MONTH. MY WIFE IS A LAY SPEAKER AND I'M A WORK-IN-PROGRESS. We have been blessed with 4 children. Losing one in child birth. Now we have 6 grand kids. 3 of each. One of my girls is in charge of KIDS CLUB. WE'RE A SMALL COMMUNITY,@ BETWEEN 150 TO 200 DAMILIES LIVING WITH-IN 5 MILES OF READER. ONE GOOD THING, The Beer Joints are closing, Just trying to save money by opening on Friday & Saturday Nights. If you don't work on a Drilling Rig, You Don't work around here. There's a few that work for DOMINION GAS, BUT NOT THAT MANY. Me, I was SMART enough to Save Early and often. I took early retirement in 2005. I hope I'm Not sounding as a Braggart, as I don't think you could do this Today. Take Care and God Bless You, L8R

Brush,
I dunno I'm raising two in today's world putting my wife through dental school. I work 70-90 hrs a week 365 days a year I have little to no time at home. Maybe one day I'll get to sit back and say look what god allowed me to have. I'm just not worried about what I cannot change, I have the wisdom to know the difference. What I can change is my kids life, mine and my wife's. That's all I have the time for. I hope America stays strong but I have yet to see the world we live in today getting better. If anyone wants to pm me and let me know how I can be of assistance I would take the advice. I'm not above being wrong. I'm just a guy trying to survive in modern day america
